Laying Low

I took the weekend off for Thanksgiving and am back with some sort of throat cold. I'm going to lay low today and hopefully get a few new posts tomorrow.

Be well!

As An American

As an American living in America I have seen absolutely no personal benefit to the war in Iraq. As a matter of fact, gassing up my car has tripled since 2002 which is around the time the government sent U.S. troops over there.

Now I'm no economic/military/international politics expert in any sense of the phrase, but since most of our petroleum products seem to come from that part of the world it would seem they jacked up the prices as a result of the military's presence.

On top of that it's costing my tax dollars in the billions every month and I'm thinking that with all this "benefit" we should be getting that my gallon of gas should be down to about $0.25 a gallon. Since our government makes decisions based on the benefit of our country you'd think that, wouldn't you?

In the mean time U.S. troops are getting shot at and blown up, not getting paid nearly what they're deserved, living there with a virtual target painted on their backs, and we're all paying $3.05/gallon of gas.

Chinese Toys vs. Rational Thinking

At this rate, when I have kids they'll be better off playing with scissors and matches.

Here's another group of 4,200,000 toys recalled in today's story at CNN because they contain a "date rape" drug.

I'm not sure if I'm shooting from the hip on this one but how about we re-open the factories all over the U.S. and give some folks in the manufacturing business a job. It may make a toy that sells for $15.00 go up in price to $18.50. Big whoop. I'll buy it and so will millions of other Americans.

Hybrid Cars

I'm thinking you'll need to own your brand new hybrid vehicle for some time before seeing a profit on it. Starting at $20,950, the Toyota Prius is hot on gas savings but high on price. If you're looking at buying one and expect to finance it, you'd look at a payment of maybe $350-$400 assuming you have a small down payment. Plus on top of that you need to buy $3.00/gallon gas.

If you buy a small non-hybrid vehicle like the Corolla with great gas mileage plus a lower price (starting at $14,405) and start feeding it gas I'm thinking you'll see an immediate return on investment with a lower monthly payment and less gas consumption.

This is by no means a scientific analysis of hybrid vs. small car but simply a view of the surface.

Rational Thoughts for someone not rational

This guy shoots a police officer and runs out of the Dunkin Donuts with the officer's gun. He's now wanted by the Local, State, and FBI guys. If he were smart he'd run to the closest police station and turn himself in before they get a hold of him on the street since he's armed and dangerous.

WHILE I WAS WRITING THIS MY BUDDY IN WORK TOLD ME HE WAS CAUGHT IN MIAMI. NEVERMIND.

What a Dummy

The irony that Dog the Bounty Hunter said in his rant that he doesn't want the news to hear him say that awful word and says it several times in the statement. Then his son sells it to the news and A&E all but dumps his show.
